We stand in solidarity with the community of Blatten
The Swiss municipality of Blatten is a member of the Alliance in the Alps – and we are deeply saddened when we see the images from the mountain village: Blatten is buried under the debris of the glacier. Even the experts were surprised by the force of this natural desaster. The village was evacuated on time, but one person sadly lost their life.
Scenarios like the one in Blatten are becoming more likely in other high-altitude locations - the glaciers and permafrost are melting faster and setting unexpected things in motion.
